This is a short animation I made at uni based on a response from a voxpop interview. The character is Gerry a Nigerian street cobbler / shoe salesman, who is being interviewed at his stall. For the design of this animation I made the majority of it with real-life materials, and then used those textures and models to recreate it in 3D in Maya.

This was largely a test for creating clouds using fluids in Maya, then rendered with RenderMan.
